Bears or Commanders on Monday night? Your picks are in

Who wins Monday night, the Bears or the Commanders?

That topped the agenda in this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X.

It’s Caleb Williams vs. Jayden Daniels, the quarterbacks who went Nos. 1 and 2 overall in the 2024 draft. But it’s a lot more than just that.

“Football 101, from peewee on up: Run the ball well against your opponent and stop them from running it well on you. My Bears stink at both. The Commanders do not,” commented @rynelancer.

On the other hand: “Bears 77, Commanders 0,” @RonaldVoigt4 predicted, no doubt seriously. “But Caleb will be held under 10 touchdowns.”

Next, if all Bears games were on the same day at the same time, and you got to pick when, what would it be?

“Sunday, 3 p.m.,” @tunahaf weighed in. “Noon games suck.”

And here’s one to think about: Has Cubs-Brewers surpassed Cubs-Cardinals as a rivalry? It was a pretty close vote.

“Nope,” @cubanrican71 weighed in.

On to the polls:

Poll No. 1: Who wins Monday night, the Bears or the Commanders?

Upshot: A Bear market is going to do its thing when it comes to picking a winner. We can respect that. Even if it’s the wrong call.

Poll No. 2: If all Bears games had to be on the same day and at the same time, what would be your pick?

Upshot: It’s almost as though some poor saps have to work on weekday mornings, ya know?

Poll No. 3: Has Cubs-Brewers surpassed Cubs-Cardinals on the rivalry-o-meter?

Upshot: Cubs-Brewers is getting there — a down-to-the-wire National League Division Series only aids the cause — but it’s still hard to top the Cubs and Cardinals going at it at Wrigley Field or Busch Stadium. A close one, though!
