Bears quarterback Caleb Williams wore a green and yellow jersey into the season finale against the Lions on Sunday — but it wasn’t the Packers.
It was a replica of Bears coach Ben Johnson’s high school jersey. Johnson wore No. 12 for the A.C. Reynolds High School Rockets in Ashville, N.C., where he was an all-conference player as a junior and senior and conference player of the year as a senior. He also finished in the top five of his class academically.

“We were a darn good high school team, and probably about 25 or 30 years there, it wasn’t whether we’re gonna go to the playoffs, it was how far we’re gonna make it in the playoffs,” he said earlier this year.
That’s where Johnson first heard the “Good, Better, Best” cheer he leads after Bears wins. He grew up in the locker room because his dad was an assistant coach.
“Just a fond memory of mine growing up,” he said.
