Bears TE Cole Kmet leaves game vs. Bengals with a concussion

CINCINNATI — Bears tight end Cole Kmet left the game in the second quarter Sunday after being hit following his 10-yard reception. He was evaluated for a concussion and then ruled out.

Kmet caught Caleb Williams’ third down throw, which was high, and was hit by Bengals linebacker Barrett Carter as he fell to the ground. Kmet went immediately to the blue injury tent and then, after a lengthy stay, to the locker room.

Kmet hurt his back in Week 7 against the Saints and missed the Ravens game. It was the first time in his NFL career he had to miss a game.

“It was weird, yeah,” he said last week. “First time watching a Bears game since college, so it’s been a little bit … definitely strange. And not something I want to experience here in the near term anytime soon again. So yeah, definitely tough, kind of just sitting and watching.”

The 22nd running back taken in this year’s draft looked like something much more Sunday.
The victory got the Bears to 5-3, matching their win total from last season and putting them just behind the Packers and Lions in the NFC North.
