The Bears — and other NFL teams — need to cut their roster down from 90 players to 53 by 5 p.m. Sunday.
Teams can then begin assembling a 16-man practice squad Monday.

5 p.m.
The Bears released seven veterans: running back Salvon Ahmed, tight end Stephen Carlson, defensive end Marcus Davenport, offensive lineman Wesley French, defensive lineman James Lynch, linebacker Jon Rhattigan and linebacker Jack Sanborn. Davenport, whom the Bears signed earlier this month but has still yet to practice, is among those than could return to the practice squad Monday.
The Bears waived the following: receiver Maurice Alexander, tackle Kiran Amegadjie, tackle Caden Barnett, receiver Kaden Davis, linebacker Antonio Grier, offensive lineman Kyle Hergel, tight end Qadir Ismail, defensive back Anthony Johnson, wide receiver Omari Kelly, offensive lineman Jared Kump, defensive lineman Jeremiah Martin, linebacker Wayne Matthews III, offensive lineman Mason Murphy, defensive back Deantre Prince, defensive back Marlen Sewell and defensive back William Wright. Davis is among the many who could land on the practice squad if he clears waivers Monday.
They waived cornerback Beanie Bishop, linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II and safety Dontae Manning with injury designations.
They put four players on injured reserve: running back Brittain Brown, linebacker Tony Fields, cornerback Jaylon Jones and wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud III.
As expected, they put cornerback Kyler Gordon, linebacker Noah Sewell and defensive lineman Shemar Turner on injured reserve.
3:45 p.m.
The Bears will waive undrafted rookie quarterback Miller Moss, a source said. Moss was starter Caleb Williams’ teammate at USC and could stick around on the practice squad as a developmental player.
12:45 p.m.
The Bears released offensive tackle Jedrick Wills, a former first-round pick who hasn’t played since 2024, a source said.
12:15 p.m.
The Bears are cutting receiver J.P. Richardson, a source said.
11 a.m.
The Bears have released veteran wide receiver Scotty Miller, who spent the offseason with them, a source said. As a vested veteran, he immediately becomes a free agent and can sign elsewhere.
Miller, from Barrington, has played seven NFL seasons and had nine catches for 62 yards with the Steelers last season.
7:45 a.m.
The Bears agreed to trade defensive tackle Gervon Dexter to the Falcons in exchange for cornerback Clark Phillips III and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Like Phillips, Dexter is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The Bears weren’t willing to give him a contract extension and watched him fall behind in training camp. Veterans Kentavius Street and Neville Gallimore and rookie Jordan van den Berg had emerged as part of the team’s interior rotation alongside Grady Jarrett.
Phillips, who missed most of last season with a triceps injury, plays outside cornerback. He’s appeared in 28 games, starting seven times, since being drafted out of Utah.
