A man died early Wednesday morning after being hit by the driver of a van while riding his bike in southeast Aurora, police said.
Aurora officers responded to the crash in the 2200 block of South Kittredge Way, near Horseshoe Park, just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the police department.
The unidentified bicyclist was riding in the southbound lanes of Kittredge when the driver struck him from behind, police said. There are no bike lanes along that stretch of road.
Paramedics took the man to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. He will be publicly identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
Police said the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.
No additional information on the crash or any charges under investigation was available Wednesday.
