A body discovered on a busy roadway earlier this week appears to have succumbed to natural causes.
Michael Barday, Public Information Officer for the Solano County area California Highway Patrol said a motorist called 911 on Jan. 30 at approximately 7:50 a.m. to advise dispatch that there was a pedestrian lying face down on the right shoulder of eastbound Interstate-80 west of Manuel Campos Parkway in Fairfield.
“CHP and Fairfield Fire arrived simultaneously and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene,” said Barday.

Officials are waiting on the results of an autopsy by the Solano County Coroner to determine the official cause of death, but Barday said the death appears to have been caused by natural causes.
According to officials at the Solano County Coroner’s Office, the deceased was identified as 41-year-old Garrick Hornlein, who was unhoused at the time of his death.
