Authorities were investigating Thursday a dead body that was found at a beach in Malibu.
The man was pronounced dead when he was found by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel around 3 p.m. Wednesday at a beach north of Malibu Lagoon, according to media reports.
Information on the identity of the dead man and the cause of death were not immediately available.
The recovery of the body came on the same day that the city of Malibu declared a state of emergency after pounding surf and coastal erosion opened a massive sinkhole at actor Nicolas Cage’s beachfront home, causing 31 surrounding properties to be red-tagged.
The man was found naked when he was pulled out of the water, according to CBS News.
The death is under investigation.
