Boulder County sheriff’s investigators, aided by multiple law enforcement agencies, executed search warrants across metro Denver on Wednesday morning as part of an undisclosed grand jury investigation, officials said.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office emphasized in a news release that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was not involved.
The sheriff’s office, alongside 24 other enforcement agencies, including the Boulder Police Department and the FBI, executed nine search warrants Wednesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation, according to the news release.
The searches were carried out in unincorporated Boulder and Adams counties, as well as in the cities of Denver, Westminster, Wheat Ridge, Federal Heights and Johnstown, the sheriff’s office said.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office led the operation and is leading the investigation, the news release said.
Officials did not disclose what type of case is being investigated, and the number of successful warrant executions could not be disclosed because the case is under a grand jury’s seal, Boulder County sheriff’s spokesperson Vinnie Montez said.
“That criminal case will be prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Office,” the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement. “Once the indictments are unsealed and the appropriate individuals are in custody, the District Attorney’s Office will issue a press release and release the grand jury indictment.”
Any information about possible injuries sustained in the operation, future plans regarding this case, whether there are any people at large, and whether there is any threat to the community was unclear.
The case remains an active investigation, according to the news release.
