Detectives were speaking with a witness and trying to find video evidence after a 13-year-old boy was beaten and critically wounded Saturday in Roseland near Gately Park on the Far South Side.
Calumet District police officers responded to a call of a battery in progress about noon on Saturday in the 10200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.
There, they found the 13-year-old boy unresponsive and a witness told them he’d been beaten by four people only described as males who “continued to batter him after he lost consciousness,” according to a Chicago police report obtained by the Sun-Times.
The boy, who suffered “blunt force trauma to the head,” was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, according to the report.
Area 2 detectives were investigating.
