Police are looking for a dark-colored SUV involved in a drive-by shooting that fatally wounded a 17-year-old boy late Tuesday in South Lawndale.

Around 11:10 p.m., the teen was standing outside in the 2600 block of South Hamlin Avenue talking on his phone after being dropped off near his girlfriend’s house when the back seat passenger of a dark-colored SUV began firing, according to a Chicago police report.

The SUV fled southbound on Hamlin and the boy, hit in the head and chest, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:54 p.m., according to the report and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
