A Bridgeview woman is facing charges after she allegedly fired a weapon at Chicago police officers in Brighton Park in April, according to Chicago police.
Alexia Castellanos, 19, faces four counts of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm at police, as well as two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and a charge of aggravated possession of a weapon in a vehicle by someone younger than 21, police said.
Officers had stopped a vehicle with Castellanos and two men in it in the 4400 block of South Mozart Avenue at 1:12 a.m. April 25, when they fled and she allegedly fired shots at police in the 2800 block of West 45th Street, police said. The car then crashed in the 2900 block of West 47th Street, at which point she allegedly fired on officers again.
She and the other passengers of the car were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries from the crash, and one officer was transported for observation, police said. No one was struck by the gunfire.
Castellanos is due in court Thursday.
