Brighton father IDed by police as a suspect in the death of his 2-month-old baby

Brighton police are eyeing a father in the death last month of his 2-month-old baby, announcing on Friday that the department is investigating the death as a homicide.

Police said in a press release posted to X on Friday that the child’s biological father — Donnie Casados, 31 — is a suspect and is in custody on unrelated charges.

Officers in Brighton were dispatched to an apartment complex on South 18th Avenue on the afternoon of Aug. 17 on reports of a baby not breathing. They arrived within minutes and immediately began administering CPR to the baby, but the child died eight days later at a hospital.
