A British woman who moved to Spain has complained that the UK has ‘too many foreigners’.

More than 800,000 British people holiday in Benidorm, on Spain’s east coast, every year.

And at least 3,400 British people never flew back, now making up around 5% of the town’s population.

In other words, you shouldn’t be too surprised to see Union Jack flags, pubs and bright red sunburns in this Spanish seaside resort.

A reporter from GB News flew to the tourist hotspot to ask British people why they decided to move some 1,500 miles away.

Speaking to Dougie Beattie for a segment called ‘BRITS TAKEOVER BENIDORM,’ one woman had a simple reason why she packed her bags.

‘There’s too many foreigners in the UK,’ the immigrant said.

‘We lost our rights, freedom of speech went! I had enough, I ain’t doing it no more. I’m off. I thought, “nah”.’

According to signs written in Spanish, the British woman was sitting just outside Joyerías Aresso, a Spanish jewellery store on Av de Martínez Alejosin, in the Spanish city’s Old Town.

The irony, it was safe to say, was not lost on social media users after the interview was shared on X.

Alex Taylor, a British broadcaster working in France, wrote: ‘The sheer irony, the arrogance of it all. Sorry, but I’ve had it with treating people like this with kid gloves.

‘Show me a video of them speaking fluent Spanish and I’ll eat a sombrero live on X!’

David Head, a translator, added: ‘She’s a foreigner in Benidorm, yet she complains of too many foreigners in UK. Such minds gave us Brexit.’

While author Darren Boyle posted: ‘Woman who moved to a foreign land complains about foreigners at home.’

Many commentators wondered whether the woman, who sharply criticised Keir Starmer, is aware that Spain has a socialist government.

British people don’t have the best reputation abroad, often associated with binge drinking, hooliganism and more binge drinking.

More than 18.4million British people visited Spain last year, about one-quarter of the total population.

Yet, a fifth of Brits ‘never’ attempt to speak a country’s native language when going abroad, a poll last year found. More than half would rather point to a menu than attempt to say a non-English word like ‘edamame’ or ‘pho’.

Don’t worry, though, a separate study found that the average UK adult can order a beer in three different languages. While six in 10 feel that a few pints at the pub is on par with seeing a historical landmark.

British people especially love looking for slices of the UK in the Mediterranean because they appreciate the taste of home.

This includes Susan Edwards, 69, who booked an all-inclusive holiday in Corfu, an island in Greece also loved by the British, in May.

Yet she was stunned to see that the Lido Corfu Sun Hotel, one of several hotels on Tsaki beach, didn’t serve British food.

She even had to pay extra at the bar to order a Bacardi and coke –  the all-inclusive drinks on offer only included wine, ouzo or brandy.
