Brits’ favourite treats include ‘unusual’ activities including watching ‘bad’ movies and drinking from favourite mug

WATCHING ‘bad’ movies, drinking from a favourite mug, and eating peanut butter directly from the jar are the unusual ways Brits treat themselves.

A poll of 2,000 adults found they typically enjoy them around three times a week, with Friday the most popular day for doing so.

Most adults enjoy about three ‘treats’ per week, according to the survey.
The findings are from a study by Kahlúa and Tony’s Chocolonely, who’ve joined forces to make chocolate martini glasses.

Other atypical examples include changing the bedding, having coffee before going to bed, and having pudding for breakfast.

The study was commissioned by Kahlúa which has teamed-up with Tony’s Chocolonely to create 40 martini glasses made entirely from chocolate – which are available from Dirty Martini Bishopsgate from Friday April 18.

They were developed after the study found 25 per cent of adults don’t think they treat themselves regularly enough.

Although 43 per cent of those who feel this way intend to make more effort to change this – and some already have, with 18 per cent having treated themselves more often during the past 12 months.

Craig van Niekerk, spokesperson for the coffee liqueur brand, which has also launched an Espresso MarTony cocktail available at Dirty Martini venues nationwide for one month from Thursday April 17, said: “It’s important to treat oneself – no matter what day of the week.

“And as the research shows it’s possible to do just that in the smallest of ways – it doesn’t need to be a grand gesture.

“But it is fun to push the boat occasionally and really indulge yourself.”

Carried out through OnePoll.com, the research found 50 per cent consider their go-to treats to be indulgent.

And it might be easy to see why – other unusual ways those polled treat themselves include ordering food to work, drinking hot chocolate in the summer, and eating an entire tub of ice cream.

Having a cereal cocktail – a mix of different cereal in a bowl with milk, drinking cocktails in the bath, and having breakfast in bed are also popular.

And if anyone is on the fence about treating themselves too much, 49 per cent are convinced it’s impossible to do so too much.

]To launch Kahlúa’s cocktail, sustainable chef Lagom Chef Martyn Odell has appeared in a new video where he’s seen serving up the drink in the edible chocolate glass to an unsuspecting customer.
