Broncos sending LG Ben Powers back to Denver after biceps injury vs. Eagles

PHILADELPHIA — The Broncos are flying to London on Sunday night without a pair of offensive players.

Left guard Ben Powers and backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham flew back to Denver on Sunday rather than traveling with the team to England, and did so for very different reasons.

Powers is returning to Denver to be evaluated for a biceps injury he suffered against Philadelphia on Sunday night, according to an injury report the Broncos were required to release because of their travel to London.

There was no immediate information on the severity of the injury, but returning home instead of traveling with the team clearly puts Powers’ status going forward in doubt.

Stidham, meanwhile, traveled back because he and his wife are expecting their third child. The veteran No. 2 quarterback is expected to rejoin the team in England later in the week, perhaps as early as Wednesday, for the start of Denver’s normal practice week.

Powers played every snap against Philadelphia, but now is facing a potential absence. During training camp, Alex Palczewski was the first man in on the right side, but Matt Peart served as the primary backup on the left side. Either could slide into Powers’ spot, and Denver could also look at Alex Forsyth or practice squad veteran Calvin Throckmorton.

Toure signed. The Broncos signed WR Samori Toure to their practice squad, a source confirmed to The Post. Toure, a former Nebraska wide receiver, was a 2022 seventh-round pick by Green Bay and also has spent time with Chicago.

Toure fills a spot on the practice squad that opened Saturday when ILB Garret Wallow was promoted to the 53-man roster.
