The festival’s foundation is built on reggae and hip-hop grooves and this year, with a shift from its past dates in February to early June, the weather finally matched the mood as thousands of fans in warm-weather outfits flocked to the first of two days of Cali Vibes.
Early in the day, Mystic Marley, a granddaughter of reggae icon Bob Marley, brought his legacy along with her own musical inspiration to the festival. As the afternoon unfolded, performers including Chad Tepper, J Boog, and Iration also entertained the crowd.

Cali Vibes continues on Sunday with a bill that tilts slightly more to hip-hop artists. Rapper Kid Cudi is the Sunday headliner, and rappers including Ludacris and the Southern California rap group Cypress Hill are also on tap.
But there’s still plenty of reggae in the lineup, including YG Marley, another of the musical grandchildren of Bob Marley, the entertaining San Diego rock-reggae favorites Slightly Stoopid, the old-school Jamaican reggae group Steel Pulse, and the always crowd-pleasing Rebelution.
In addition to the cool tunes, Cali Vibes has also made a name for itself with its food and drink offerings, which mostly deliver beach-culture cuisine and cocktails with flavors from California to Hawaii and Jamaica and beyond.
