A Los Angeles Police Department officer was arrested in Long Beach this week after she allegedly assaulted a man as he drove, causing a crash, officials said.
Long Beach police responded to the single-vehicle crash in the area of Carson Street and San Anseline Drive just after 1:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, and learned that a “domestic violence incident” led to the crash, police said Wednesday.
The man was driving and a passenger, identified as Marilyn Maybe Briseno, 28, of Huntington Park, was determined to be the suspect, police said.
While police were investigating, Briseno attempted to leave while being detained and allegedly assaulted an officer, police said.
She was booked into jail on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence and assault on a peace office, police said. She was released later Monday morning after posting $20,000 bond, inmate records show.
The Long Beach officer did not sustain any injuries, police said.
Briseno has worked for the LAPD since August 2023, according to a national database of police officers.
The LAPD did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment or information about Briseno’s employment.
