The attack happened around 12:30 p.m. on May 23 in a heavily wooded area off-trail on the eastern side of LaBagh Woods, about 500 feet from the parking lot, according to forest preserves police.

The victim, a 29-year-old woman, was taken to Swedish Hospital and has since been released, police said.

“This was a shocking incident,” Adam Bianchi, superintendent of the forest preserve, said in a statement, “even more so because of the relative rarity of such attacks in the Forest Preserves.”

Lang faces counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated battery with strangulation.
