Chicago Sky star Rickea Jackson’s season ends with a torn ACL

The worst-case scenario came true.

After a hot start to the 2026 season, Sky forward Rickea Jackson tore her ACL. An MRI revealed a torn ACL in her left knee, which she sustained against the Lynx on May 17.

“We’re devastated that Rickea suffered this injury, but we are confident she will make a full recovery,” general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a statement. “Rickea was playing at an All-Star and All-Defensive level early in the season. We are certain she was primed for a career year. Our world-class medical staff will work hard with Rickea, who is one of the toughest players in the league, to get her back on the court.”

Through the Sky’s first three games, Jackson was averaging 22 points, six rebounds and 2.7 assists. She tore her ACL midway through the second quarter against the Lynx, driving left.

She will have surgery to repair the injury.

The Sky returned home from their first road trip 3-1, with Jackson as their leading scorer. Now they have a huge hole to fill.
