Former GOP presidential candidate and Republican Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie continued Sunday to criticize President Trump on ABC News’ This Week.
Echoing other frustrated voices in his party, Christie said, “There are no signs that he’s winning in Iran. And the Iranians have learned, as many of us in this country have learned, is the bluster is the bluster.”
Christie asked, “How many times has he threatened to bomb them out of civilization? Bomb every power plant, bomb every bridge, and then he inevitably backs off.”
Christie added: “The problem for the president and my party right now is that the show is over. He can no longer distract from bad decisions with his charisma and his speaking.”

Christie noted that Trump’s last two speeches — last week’s “prime-time” speech in which he tried to sow doubt about election integrity and Friday night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner — failed to generate enthusiasm.
The former governor said: “No one is paying attention any more. They are bored with the act. At times on Friday night, it seemed like even he was bored with the act. And the Iranians notice all of this, and they’re not going to take him seriously. And that’s gotta be incredibly frustrating to a President who only cares about that people take him seriously.”
Below is video from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner where Trump referred to Christie as “one of the sloppiest human beings you’ll ever meet,” and added, “I could mention the governor of Chicago but I’m going to mention instead Jerry Nadler, and they’re fighting for a big piece of cheesecake, big fat piece of cheesecake.”
Trump finally got a small laugh from the “bored” audience when he went off script and asked, “Who the hell wrote that line?”
