Chris Taylor home run lifts Dodgers to win over White Sox


THE GAME: Chris Taylor’s two-run home run in the seventh inning broke a tie and sent the Dodgers to a 6-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday afternoon at Camelback Ranch.

PITCHING REPORT: Michael Grove gave up two runs on four hits and did not finish the first inning. But he re-entered the game in the second inning and pitched three more innings, allowing just one more hit. … Yency Almonte, Brusdar Graterol and Victor Gonzalez each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

HITTING REPORT: Freddie Freeman returned to the Dodgers’ lineup as the DH and reached base in all three plate appearances – two singles and a walk. He is expected to play first base in Sunday’s game. “Checked all the boxes I needed to today,” said Freeman, who had not played since leaving a World Baseball Classic game Tuesday after feeling tightness in his right hamstring. … Taylor had an infield single to go with his two-run home run in four at-bats. Taylor began the spring 2 for 6 but was 2 for 29 before his home run. … Catcher David Freitas had a single and a double in two at-bats.
