Cinco de Mayo 2023: Tacos, beer, margaritas and discounts


Cinco de Mayo falls on a Friday this year, meaning that several restaurants will keep the party going all weekend.

Chains from quick-service to full-service have discounts with beer, margaritas and tacos.

Here are some of the specials announced on websites and in news releases.

Acapulco Restaurant & Cantina: There will be a build-your-own taco bar beginning at 3 p.m., followed by live entertainment at 4 p.m.. Also, the restaurant will offer margarita specials as well as beer and tequila shots. Black Angus Steakhouse: There will be all-day happy hour on May 5 with a Messy Michelada for $8.50, Chili-Lime Chicken Bites for $11.99, and $7 starters, according to a news release. blackangus.com

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse: The Huntington Beach chain will introduce a new Mexican-style lager,  BJ’s CureVeza, on Thursday, May 4 to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Chipotle Mexican Grill: The Newport Beach chain is partnering with events platform Partiful in a campaign designed to build new customers. It is offering a buy-one-get-one deal to fans who create an event on Partiful between now and May 5 and invite friends who have never tried Chipotle, using #ChipotlePartyPromo in the description. El Torito: Build-your-own taco bar opens at 3 p.m. Friday. Drink specials include House Margaritas for $9-$12 and Cadillac Margaritas for $11-$14. Live entertainment starts at 4 p.m. Customers on Cinco de Mayo will get a buy-one-get-one card for a breakfast item the following day. eltorito.com.

El Pollo Loco: Loco Rewards members can get a free Crunchy Birria Taco with the purchase of any shredded Beef Birria entrée on May 5 only, according to a news release. elpolloloco.com
