‘Close the border,’ voters demand in last poll hours before election as Trump vows to save US from ‘disastrous’ Harris

AMERICANS have dished their final demands for the next president, begging them to close the borders, fix their finances, and end the wars overseas.

Desperate voters have just hours left to head to the polls, with Kamala Harris and Donald Trump still neck and neck in their race for the White House.

Both rivals have stumped their way through vastly different campaigns, with Trump vowing to “build the wall” on the US-Mexico border and increase fracking by declaring “drill baby drill.”

Harris, meanwhile, has advocated for women’s freedoms and abortion rights, promising to expand America’s efforts against climate change and secure the economy.

Asked by The U.S. Sun’s poll what issues concern them the most when heading to the polls, voters were quick to share their thoughts.

Out of the 1,000 people asked, responses ranged from the economy and immigration to ending the cost of living and abortion rights.

The majority of respondents were most concerned about the cost of living, with 391 (39%) listing it as the topic that worries them when heading to the polls.

Inflation was also of grave concern, with 349 (35%) listing it as their highest priority.

Next up was immigration, with 252 (25%) voters declaring it their biggest fear when it comes to the next president’s to-do list.

A total of 231 Americans (23%) said abortion and reproductive rights were the highest on their agenda, while 148 (15%) said housing and rent costs were on theirs.

Access to healthcare gained traction from 114 respondents (11%), while gun control and climate change both gained an answer from 8% of those asked.

Global conflicts – listed in the poll as the wars in Ukraine, Russia, Israel, and Palestine – were of the highest concern for just 54 people (5%) asked, while 31 (3%) said there was nothing in particular that concerned them the most.

When asked what the first action the President of the United States should take upon gaining office, a total of 68 people demanded they “close the border.”

Another 13 people called for the deportation of illegal immigrants – with one person even wanting to deport Donald Trump himself.

“To close the border and deport illegal,” one person wrote.

“Close the borders!!!” wrote another.

The economy was also hot on the agenda.

“Either raise wages or lower rent and other necessities,” one respondent said.

“Fix the economy and make it easier for people to have somewhere to stay and have a job,” someone else wrote.

“Fix prices on food and gasoline,” another said.

“Fix our taxes and Close the border with better security,” someone else demanded.

“Economy clean up” and “economy and health care” were also listed by those asked.

Of the respondents asked, 69 (7%) were Gen Z, 314 (31%) were Millennials, 292 (29%) were Gen X, and 308 (31%) were baby boomers.

A total of 616 (62%) were women, 378 (38%) were male and 6 (1%) marked other.

Millions of Americans are heading to the polls to cast their vote today.

Polls will begin to close in eastern Kentucky and much of Indiana at 6 pm ET.

We are likely to get a sense of the outcome at 7 pm ET, when polls close in Georgia.

States, however, will continue to close their polls until midnight ET, with Hawaii and most of Alaska being the last to do so.
