Comment: Golden Eagles proved last week that even when offense isn’t hitting on all cylinders, defense can get job done. This week: vs. Fruita Monument, 6 p.m. Thursday.
4. Arvada West 7-0 4 W (20-17 vs. Columbine)
Comment: Wildcats survived Rebels’ upset bid. Just two more hurdles left before end-of-season showdown at Ralston Valley. This week: vs. Denver East, 7 p.m. Friday.
5. Legend 6-1 5 W (50-7 at Chaparral)
Comment: Few better tests of defense’s toughness than facing Fountain-Fort Carson’s ground and pound. This week: vs. No. 9 Fountain-Fort Carson, 7 p.m. Thursday.
6. Valor Christian 5-2 6 W (55-0 at Castle View)
Comment: Senior Dawson Olk and sophomore Titus Huard still splitting snaps at QB. Who will be the guy in November? This week: vs. ThunderRidge, 7 p.m. Friday.
7. Fairview 6-1 7 W (60-29 at Fort Collins)
Comment: Most impressive part of Knights’ rout of Lamkins? Holding Fort Collins to one TD over final two quarters. This week: vs. Brighton, 7 p.m. Friday.
8. Erie 5-2 8 W (61-34 vs. Vista PEAK Prep)
Comment: Friday night’s visit from Mullen may very well decide 5A Front Range South League title. This week: vs. Mullen, 6:30 p.m. Friday.
9. Fountain-Fort Carson 6-1 NR W (24-17 vs. Regis Jesuit)
Comment: Trojans have won six straight since Week 1 loss to Arvada West. This week: at No. 5 Legend, 7 p.m. Thursday.
10. Pine Creek 4-3 9 W (55-48 vs. Douglas County)
Comment: Junior RB Xavier Lukes had a season (35 carries, 303 yards) in one night against Douglas County. This week: at Chaparral, 4 p.m. Friday.

Comment: Bears defense allowed its first first-quarter TD of season last week. Of course, that’s all they allowed. This week: at No. 6 Vista Ridge, 7 p.m. Friday.
4. Broomfield 6-1 4 W (74-0 vs. Adams City)
Comment: Until Eagles actually lose to 4A team, they remain as scary as anyone in classification. This week: at Grand Junction Central, 7 p.m. Friday.
5. Durango 5-2 5 L (21-7 at No. 3 Palmer Ridge)
Comment: Demons defense proved they’re for real with competitive showing at Palmer Ridge. This week: vs. Air Academy, 6 p.m. Friday.
6. Vista Ridge 6-1 7 W (42-7 at Rampart)
Comment: Wolves are 0-5 vs. Palmer Ridge since Bears moved up to 4A. They get another shot at home on Friday. This week: vs. No. 3 Palmer Ridge, 7 p.m. Friday.
7. Riverdale Ridge 7-0 9 W (56-14 at Longmont)
Comment: Ravens biding their time until Week 9 showdown vs. Broomfield. This week: at Adams City, 7 p.m. Thursday.
8. Monarch 5-2 10 W (38-21 at Loveland)
Comment: Junior running back Malakhi Payne’s last four games (81 carries, 672 yards, 10 TDs) have been bonkers. This week: at Greeley West, 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
9. Pueblo West 5-2 6 L (22-15 at Mesa Ridge)
Comment: Mesa Ridge was bound to knock off at least one giant on its rugged schedule. Cyclones turned out to be the first. This week: vs. Widefield, 7 p.m. Friday.
10. Sand Creek 7-0 NR W (52-45 at Cheyenne Mountain)
Comment: Scorpions join top 10 after surviving wild battle of unbeatens at Cheyenne Mountain. Total points: 97. Total yards: 1,022. This week: vs. Gateway, 7 p.m. Friday.

Comment: Even more impressive than Tigers’ 67 points last week. They needed only 20 offensive snaps to get there. This week: at Kennedy, 11 a.m. Saturday.
4. Mead 5-1 5 W (21-10 vs. Timnath)
Comment: Mavericks get past Timnath unscathed. And that’s no small thing. This week: at Greeley Central, 11 a.m. Saturday.
5. Roosevelt 3-3 4 L (23-15 at No. 2 Pomona)
Comment: Will Rough Riders’ brutal schedule set them up for success in November? Or will it take too much out of them? This week: vs. Fort Morgan, 7 p.m. Friday.
6. Lutheran 4-2 6 W (48-0 at Standley Lake)
Comment: As it often seems to do, Lions’ season will turn on next week’s showdown with Holy Family. This week: vs. Hinkley, 7 p.m. Thursday.
7. Thompson Valley 5-1 7 W (28-7 vs. Severance)
Comment: Eagles close out regular season with visits to Roosevelt and Pomona in back-to-back weeks. Yikes! This week: at Mountain View, 7 p.m. Friday.
8. Eagle Valley 8-0 8 W (35-0 vs. Glenwood Springs)
Comment: It’s been 13 years since Devils last won eight games in a season, let alone rattled off eight-game win streak to start campaign. This week: Bye.
9. Discovery Canyon 5-1 9 W (43-0 vs. Pueblo Centennial)
Comment: Thunder now 4-0 against teams from Pueblo this fall — and they’ve still got date with Pueblo South in Week 11. This week: vs. Harrison, noon Saturday.
10. Palisade 5-2 NR W (41-0 at Rifle)
Comment: Bulldogs unbeaten against 3A competition this season after posting back-to-back shutout wins. This week: Bye
