A winter storm will continue to bring heavy snow and high winds to Colorado’s northern and central mountains on Saturday, creating dangerous driving conditions throughout the state, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters issued a winter storm warning for most of the northern and central mountains until 11 p.m., with an additional 5-15 inches or more snow expected throughout the Rockies and wind gusts up to 60 mph.
“Snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less. Near blizzard conditions are possible, especially Saturday morning,” forecasters said in an alert. “Travel will be very difficult to impossible, with road closures possible,”
Radar and webcams show heavy snow is falling in the mountains with hazardous travel conditions. If you are traveling in the mountains today, allow plenty of extra time and obey chain laws. With the strong winds, near-whiteout conditions could occur. #COwx pic.twitter.com/UM07DHPJzc

All three of Colorado’s National Weather Service offices — in Boulder, Pueblo and Grand Junction — have put out winter storm warnings through Saturday night, stretching from the Wyoming state to the north and falling just short of Gunnison to the south.
People living or traveling in parts of Jackson, Grand, Larimer, Boulder, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Summit, Park, Eagle, Lake, Garfield, Rio Blanco, Routt, Gunnison and Chaffee counties are included in the winter storm warning, forecasters said.
If folks must travel, they should be prepared with emergency supplies including a flashlight, food, warm clothes and water, according to the NWS.
