Colorado weather: Severe thunderstorms to bring hail, damaging winds

Severe thunderstorms are forecast Wednesday afternoon across Colorado’s Interstate 25 corridor and Eastern Plains, according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms will develop over the mountains before moving into the Front Range and the Eastern Plains just after noon, weather service forecasters said.

The afternoon storms threaten to bring large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain, forecasters said. Tornadoes are also possible.

Severe storms expected along the I-25 corridor will include the Denver area and Denver International Airport, forecasters said.

Rain and thunder are forecast through roughly 11 p.m. Wednesday in Denver, according to the weather service. The strongest chance for storms is between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., forecasters said.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
