Los Angeles is hosting its annual Comic Con from September 26-28, the city’s largest comics, gaming, anime, and pop culture event. On Saturday at the Los Angeles Convention Center crowds of attendees enjoyed interactive anime exhibits, participating in gaming activities, and meeting their favorite actors and gamers.
Comic Con hosted a cosplay competition with cash prizes of up to $250,000 on Saturday. And cosplayers took the stage performing as different anime and pop culture characters against each other, being scored on craftsmanship, performance, and passion.

The Kids Costume Contest in partnership with the Los Angeles Public Library will be held Sunday on the main stage, encouraging children 12 and younger to dress as their favorite superheroes, princesses or comic book characters.
There were a variety of different stations at Comic Con throughout the weekend. Inspired by Tokyo’s Akihabara District — known as “Electric Town,” the global center of anime, manga, and video game culture — the group Otaku Collectives offered an immersive journey into anime culture at the L.A. Comic Con. And the massive Gaming Hall allowed for freeplay console gaming and exciting tournaments that anyone could participate in.
Artists also had the opportunity to submit their portfolios for review by Marvel Comics’ associate editor, Annalise Bissa.
