Costco customers warned: Don’t wear those fancy socks

Battery-powered heated socks that were sold at Costco have been recalled because of the risk of burns.

A recall bulletin issued Thursday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission said 13 cases of first- or second-degree burns were reported by users of 32 Degrees Heated Socks.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the heated socks and return them to Costco for a full refund,” the warning said.

The Chinese-made socks, which retailed for $30 to $46 a pair, were sold only at Costco stores and at Costco.com, from August 2025 through March 2026.

They use a rechargeable battery pack that fits in a pocket near the knee and powers a heating pad at the ball of the foot. The product description says it has four heat settings.

The importer says customers with questions can call (833) 997-2452 or see the company’s online notice for more information, but the refund can be obtained only through Costco.
