Crews have contained a grass fire that sparked just southeast of Boulder on Friday afternoon, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire burned about 8 acres of grassland near Cherryvale Road and U.S. 36, according to Boulder County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Vinnie Montez. The fire was originally reported to be 1 to 2 acres.
Cherryvale Road is closed between Marshall Road and South Boulder Road while Mountain View Fire Rescue crews continue to put out hot spots, according to Montez.
The fire was in the “mop up” stage around 3:30 p.m. Montez said. No structures were threatened or burned, but smoke was visible for miles.
