CU Buffs men’s basketball holds off San Francisco

PALM DESERT, Calif. — Thanks to a second-half surge, Colorado remains undefeated.

Freshman Isaiah Johnson put together a big second half, and the Buffaloes passed their first test away from home, defeating San Francisco 79-69 on Thursday in the first game of the Acrisure Holiday Classic.

Johnson scored 12 of his team-high 17 points in the second half as CU improved to 6-0.

The game was tied 51-51 when the Buffs asserted control, gradually compiling a 20-10 run that gave CU a 71-61 lead with about 4 minutes remaining.

Barrington Hargress recorded 15 points and Bangot Dak put together a strong all-around game, finishing with 13 points, five rebounds and a career-high six assists.
