Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison’s benefit concert returns to Hollywood in January

Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro and Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison will again team up for the benefit show Above Ground.

The event will return to The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood on Wednesday, Jan. 25, with an all-star band and soon-to-be-announced special guests. Tickets for the Above Ground’s fourth iteration go on sale at 10 a.m. via AXS.com on Friday, Nov 22, but fans can also purchase presale tickets starting Wednesday, Nov. 20.

The event usually celebrates a select vinyl album with performances of the record in its entirety. It has highlighted full-length albums from legendary acts, including Adam and the Ants, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, David Bowie, The Stooges, and Sex Pistols. Navarro and Morrison’s show will feature the self-titled debut albums of both the New York Dolls and The Cars this year.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Dave and Billy for once again dedicating their talents and hearts to support MusiCares and bring attention to mental health and suicide prevention,” said Laura Segura, executive director of MusiCares, in a press release. “Above Ground has become a powerful night of connection for our music community and each year, the impact grows. This concert celebrates music that inspires us and the resilience of those facing personal challenges. It’s a night of understanding and hope.”

Above Ground was founded in 2018 with the mission to raise funds and awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. In its yearly lineup, live performances have featured Navarro and Morrison alongside other rock stars and friends, including Jack Black, Corey Taylor, Anthony Kiedis, Juliette Lewis, Courtney Love, Billy Idol, Al Jourgensen, Steve Stevens and more.

This year, Above Ground is continuing its partnership with MusiCares, an organization that offers preventive, emergency, and recovery programs and provides a safety net and support system for the music community. The charity, founded by the Recording Academy in 1989, funds direct financial grant programs, networks of support resources, and tailored crisis relief efforts for musicians.
