Few details were available, and the CHP did not say immediately how the discovery was made.
The body was in a grassy area next to the N. 7th Street exit on northbound Interstate 880, according to the CHP. The CHP first received reports about the body about 5:30 a.m.
Authorities did not identify the person immediately.
Traffic slowed down in that area of I-880 but not enough for the CHP to issue a Sig Alert for a severe backup.
