Death of man, 75, shot during argument in Little Village earlier this month ruled homicide

A 75-year-old man who was shot during an argument in Little Village earlier this month has died.

Amadeo Diaz Ocampo, 75, was arguing with someone in the 3000 block of South Trumbull Avenue around 4:11 p.m. Nov. 2 when he brandished a knife and was shot in the chest, according to police reports and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Diaz Ocampo was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital to undergo surgery and died on Nov. 11 from complications of his gunshot wound, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

Two shell casings, a bullet fragment and a large knife were recovered from the scene, the police report stated.

Area detectives were investigating.
