Death of woman strangled in Greater Grand Crossing ruled homicide

The Greater Grand Crossing strangulation death of a woman was Wednesday morning has been ruled a homicide.

Police found the unidentified victim, 41, unresponsive in the 6800 block of South. Calumet Avenue about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.

She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined she died of strangulation and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Area 1 detectives are investigating but did not share additional information including if anyone was arrested.
