DIA flights grounded for thunderstorms, hundreds delayed

Flights at Denver International Airport are grounded as thunderstorms move through metro Denver, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. 

DIA is on a ground stop until at least 6 p.m. after FAA officials halted flights at 4:15 p.m., the agency said in an update.

There are 429 delayed flights at the Denver airport as of 5:30 p.m., according to the flight tracking website FlightAware. Airlines also canceled 11 flights Friday.

Southwest had 137 delayed flights, followed by United with 120 and SkyWest with 86.
