The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation introduced its newest group of 10 Legacy Scholars during a special ceremony at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, Aug.12 at 2:30 p.m.
Foundation CEO Nichol McKenzie-Whiteman, Dodgers Catcher Will Smith and Spectrum Sportsnet Los Angeles broadcaster Stephen Nelson were on hand, delivering remarks and handing out custom Dodgers jerseys, Apple MacBooks and backpacks.
The foundation has awarded 50 Legacy Scholars, representing 21 institutions, since the program launched in 2022. The event marked a special milestone as members of the inaugural class completed their four-year degrees.
“Our Legacy Scholarship program is a financial lifeline for students who otherwise may not be able to attend college. We’re also helping remove cost-related barriers to college readiness like laptops and other supplies,” said McKenzie-Whiteman. “This year’s cohort includes seven Dodgers Dreamteam participants and three Boys & Girls Club College Bound teens, and we are proud of each of them for taking meaningful steps toward their career ambitions.”
