Donald Trump’s campaign team has said the former US president is ‘safe’ after gunshots were fired near his golf club.

He was golfing at Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach in Florida on Sunday afternoon when multiple shots were fired.

Trump’s campaign communications director Steven Cheung said ‘President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity’.

It comes just over two months after he was shot during an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania, injuring his ear, on July 13.

Trump’s golf club is located about five miles from his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach.

His campaign team has declined to give any further details ‘at this time’.
