Chicago police will increase patrolling to look for DUI drivers on Friday night in Gresham on the South Side.
The “DUI Saturation Patrol” will conduct the extra patrols from 6 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday, Chicago police said.
The patrols will concentrate in a pre-designated area in the 6th District to monitor vehicles for impaired driving, police said. Officers will be looking for speed, drunk driving and safety belt violations.
The “Breath Alcohol Testing Unit” may also be deployed to allow officers to expedite the process of charging a person with a DUI before taking them to the nearest lockup, police said.
The last DUI patrol on June 13 resulted in 44 citations in the 14th District.
