Elon Musk: Tesla Diner a possibility in Palo Alto

A Tesla Diner location could be coming to Palo Alto, as suggested in a recent post on X from Elon Musk.

The world’s richest person — who is poised to become the world’s first trillionaire — posted on Oct. 31 that, “The futuristic Tesla Diner is going well. Probably makes sense to open one near our Giga Texas HQ in Austin and engineering HQ in Palo Alto.”

The company’s global engineering headquarters, whose opening was announced in 2023, is located at the old Hewlett Packard Enterprise campus at the corner of Page Mill Road and Hanover Street.

The first Tesla Diner location opened in Hollywood in July, featuring a retro-futuristic aesthetic combining Tesla charging stations with a drive-in movie theater and a 24/7 vintage American diner with robots.

The restaurant, described as a “Jetsons spaceship of a drive-in,” according to one Bloomberg visitor, serves items like smashburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, chili cheese fries and a tuna salad melt. Tesla drivers can order from their cars’ touchscreens for pick-up or delivery to their cars. Burgers are served in Cybertruck-shaped paper boxes.

Meanwhile, in Palo Alto alone, five demonstrations — four called “Protest Elon Musk’s Fascist Government Takeover” and one called “Trillionaires Vamp at Tesla and Tiffany’s!” — are scheduled for this week. The first takes place at 5 p.m. Monday at the company’s engineering HQ, near the location of the potential diner. The Tesla Diner in Hollywood has also drawn regular protests, with two planned for this week.
