With the autumn equinox approaching this weekend, the Bay Area is forecast to get a taste of cooler weather over the next several days.
An upper-level low pressure system coming from the Pacific Northwest is responsible for the cool temperatures early this week, according to Roger Gass, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Another low pressure system will be approaching the coast on Wednesday, continuing the cool temperatures.
Gass forecast that temperatures will be below average this week, ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s Monday and Tuesday, but temperatures will warm up closer to the weekend as high pressure builds.

Isolated rain showers are forecast to be moving through the region on Monday and again on Wednesday, but most places won’t see much or any rainfall, Gass said.
Most places that do receive rain Wednesday will receive less than one-tenth of an inch of rain. The low-pressure system allowing the precipitation to pass overhead will likely shift south of the Bay Area after that .
San Jose was forecast to reach a high of 72 degrees Monday and a high of 74 degrees Tuesday. San Francisco was expected to reach 68 degrees Monday before dipping to 66 Tuesday. Gass forecast that temperatures in Oakland would peak at 70 Monday and slightly drop to 69 degrees Tuesday. High temperatures in Livermore, Concord and surrounding areas were forecast to range in the low- to mid-70s over Monday and Tuesday.
