England striker Ivan Toney charged over assault at Soho nightclub

England footballer Ivan Toney has been charged with assault at a Soho nightclub.

The 30-year-old striker, from Northampton, has been accused of causing actual bodily harm at a club on Wardour Street.

The alleged assault took place in December.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 24 September.

Toney played for England at the Euro 2024 championships and the 2026 World Cup.

He played for Brentford between 2020 and 2024 before being moved to Saudi club Al-Ahli for £40 million.

Toney has recently been linked with a move back to the Premier League, despite the impending court case.

It comes after his former coach Matthias Jaissle was hired as Newcastle United head coach.
