Evacuation warnings have been issued for several burn scar areas in Los Angeles County ahead of a rainstorm expected to hit Southern California on Thursday, Nov. 13.
The storm is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms and wind to the region and last through Saturday.
The City of Los Angeles issued an evacuation warning for possible debris flows, in effect from from 6 p.m. Thursday to 11 a.m. Sunday. The areas included in the warning from the city are zones affected by the Palisades fire, Sunset fire and Hurst fire in Pacific Palisades and Mandeville Canyon, an area of Sylmar north of the 210 Freeway and a slice of Hollywood near Runyon Canyon Park.
Genasys maps show additional evacuation warning areas for Los Angeles County, which include parts of Altadena, Malibu, Topanga and Calabasas.
LA County warned that recent burn scars from the last five years are at risk for debris flows, rockslides, mudslides, and increased flooding during the storm, noting that areas of particular concern include the Bethany, Bridge, Canyon, Eaton, Franklin, Hurst, Kenneth, Lidia, Palisades and Sunset burn areas.
With rain in the forecast, people in fire-impacted areas can pick up filled sandbags at these locations to help protect their property.

Caltrans will close a portion of Topanga Canyon Boulevard at 10 p.m. on Thursday. Nov. 13 due to the storm. Topanga Canyon Boulevard will be closed between Pacific Coast Highway and Grand View Drive until conditions improve, at least through Friday morning and possibly extending into the weekend.
“NWS is predicting peak rates of rain 0.25-0.7 inches per hour with storm totals from 2 to 4 inches. Caltrans made this decision due to expected rainfall totals being above the threshold for potential debris flow, which is 0.25 inches of rain per hour in this area,” a statement from the agency said. “The conditions pose hazards for crews and motorists. Travelers should plan for alternate routes and avoid driving in rainstorms, particularly through burn scar areas.”
