Ex-BBC employee, 85, found with 60,000 child sex abuse pictures of kids as young as 6 is jailed

AN ex-BBC employee has been jailed after he was found with thousands of child sex abuse pictures – involving kids as young as six.

David Mundy, 85, downloaded and stored 58,000 indecent images of youngsters on floppy discs, CDs, USBs and hard drives in shock offending that spanned 20 years.

Around 2,500 images found at David Mundy’s address were category A, the most extreme

The retired BBC sound engineer was arrested in April 2022 when he was caught trying to download “illegal content”.

Cops seized 47 storage devices during a raid of the sicko’s home – 31 of which contained images of children who had been “violated and abused for the benefit of Mundy”.

Almost 2,500 pictures found on his devices were category A, the most extreme.

Of discs taken from Mundy’s property, many micro sticks had been labelled by the gross pensioner so he knew what the contents were.

Mundy had accessed illegal content online that involved children as young as six years old, say National Crime Agency (NCA) officers.

However, the majority of the images involved boys between eight and 15.

Cops also found also found a 15-page double sided booklet called “sensitive content movies”.

It was sorted by keywords and included guides on how to access the dark web and stay anonymous online.

Mundy claimed he had not yet used the booklet.

In a police interview, the paedo admitted he first started looking at sexual images of kids before he retired from the BBC.

Claiming he was unsure what the definition of abuse was, Mundy said his interest in the pictures was purely for “pleasure”.

Twisted Mundy today pleaded guilty and was caged for 10 months at Guildford Crown Court.

Adam Priestley from the NCA said: “Despite clear evidence showing the scale of his offending, and the horrific nature of the content he repeatedly accessed, Mundy told officers that the images he had saved simply showed kids enjoying themselves.

“This could not be further from the truth. Behind each image is a vulnerable child who has been violated and abused for the benefit of offenders like Mundy.

“We at the NCA are committed to protecting children and ensuring that individuals who collect this material, creating a demand for abuse content, are held to account.”
