Ex-Bears GM Ryan Pace rejoining NFC North as adviser with Vikings

Former Bears general manager Ryan Pace is back in the NFC North. The Vikings agreed to hire him in an advisory role Tuesday.

The Bears fired Pace after the 2021 season, and he joined the Falcons’ front office in 2022. In 2025, his last season with them, Pace served as vice president of football operations and player personnel. The Falcons overhauled their front office in January, hiring former MVP quarterback Matt Ryan as their president of football and Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham as their GM.

The Vikings remodeled their own front office, firing GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah in January and appointing an interim before hiring Seahawks executive Nolan Teasley this month.

In his six seasons as the Bears’ GM, Pace won executive of the year once and watched them reach the playoffs twice. He traded up to draft quarterback Mitch Trubisky No. 2 overall in 2018, then selected Justin Fields in his final draft with the team to replace Trubisky. Neither proved to be the answer at the position.
