The American Revolution Experience, an American Battlefield Trust’s free traveling exhibit to mark the country’s 250th birthday, has opened at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in West Hills.
The exhibit is hosted Daughters of the American Revolution’s California District VIII chapters. It captures and displays what real life was like for residents of the original 13 colonies as the soon-to-be United States inched toward breaking away from Great Britain.
The pop-up exhibition includes informative panels and interactive kiosks that tap storytelling, illustration, technology and artifacts.
“As tensions mounted across the Thirteen Colonies, the entire Revolutionary Generation was faced with a difficult choice: to pledge loyalty to the Patriot cause and the prospect of a new nation, or remain loyal to the King as subjects of the British Empire,” says the website for the traveling display. “How would you choose?”
The display will be open daily through July 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Next, it moves on to the Whittier Central Library from July 29-Aug. 6.
