FIFA Club World Cup: Harry Kane leads Bayern Munich past Flamengo

Harry Kane scored twice and Bayern Munich capitalized on a quick start to beat Flamengo 4-2 in the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Germany’s premier soccer club regrouped quickly from its only loss of the tournament last week against Benfica, jumping out to a 2-0 lead and then holding off Flamengo’s comeback attempts to advance to the quarterfinals.

Bayern Munich will face Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday in Atlanta.

The Bundesliga champions struck early when Flamengo star Erick Pulgar headed the ball into his own net off a corner in the sixth minute. Kane struck his first goal three minutes later, and Leon Goretzka made it 3-1 at halftime.

Gerson and Jorginho scored for Flamengo.

Paris Saint-Germain 4, Inter Miami 0: PSG left no doubt it was Europe’s top club with a historic victory in the Champions League. Now, PSG is intent on conquering the world.

Les Rouge-et-Bleu turned in a dominating performance, brushing aside Messi and Inter Miami with a first-half blitz in Atlanta that resulted in a shutout victory.

While the European powerhouses complained mightily about having to play in the newly expanded tournament at the end of a grueling season, PSG is taking the 32-team competition seriously.

Outside of a 1-0 loss to Brazilian club Botafogo in group play, PSG has won three games by a cumulative 10-0 since arriving in the United States.
