The first snowflakes of the season fell in Denver early Saturday morning, ending the city’s snow drought and marking its second-latest first snow on record, according to the National Weather Service.
As of 8 a.m. Saturday, 0.2 inches of snow had accumulated at Denver International Airport, according to the weather service. At least 0.1 inches of snowfall is required to count as “measurable.”
According to weather service records, Denver’s top five latest first snows now include:
- Dec. 10, 2021, with 0.3 inches of snow;
- Nov. 29, 2025, with 0.2 inches of snow;
- Nov. 21, 1934, with 1 inch of snow;
- Nov. 19, 1931, with 1 inch of snow;
- And Nov. 17, 2016, with 1.7 inches of snow.
The last time Denver saw measurable snowfall in 2025 was on April 19, according to weather service records.
With no snowfall between April and Saturday, a gap of 224 days, Denver also recorded its fourth-longest snowless streak on record, according to the weather service.
Denver’s three longest snowless streaks include:
- 232 days in 2021, from April 22 to Dec. 10;
- 232 days in 1887, from March 5 to Oct. 23;
- And 225 days in 1888, from March 27 to Nov. 7.
