Authorities have identified one of the three people who were killed Friday afternoon after a shooting in West Garfield Park.
Four people were on a sidewalk about 4:45 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Maypole Avenue when someone in a car drove up to them, Chicago police said. At least two people exited the vehicle and fired at the group.
Rickia Williams, 32, was shot in the head and taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Another man, whose age wasn’t known, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. A 36-year-old man also was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.
The fourth victim, a 35-year-old man, was shot multiple times and was listed in critical condition at Stroger Hospital.
Another man was also injured while running away from the gunfire, according to a police report obtained by the Sun-Times. He was not shot but he suffered a broken ankle and was taken to Humboldt Park Health Hospital in good condition.
An hour after the shooting, police appeared to be focused on Gotcha Faded, a barbershop on Pulaski Road near that location. Officers went in and out of the storefront, and officers guarded the entrance. Traffic was blocked on Pulaski Road between Maypole Avenue and Lake Street.
Several neighbors gathered near the scene, some hugging each other and crying, and declined to speak.
Officers later found the vehicle involved in the shooting had been set on fire, according to the police report.
Area Four Detectives are investigating.
