Florida’s attorney general has proposed an ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ surrounded by gators and pythons to President Donald Trump to detain immigrants to entered the US illegally.

Attorney General James Uthmeier aired his pitch on the facility right in the middle of the Everglades in a more than minute-long video shared on X (formerly Twitter).

It features aerial footage of the wetland in Florida and of course, alligators in their natural habitat.

‘You don’t need to invest that much in the perimeter. People get out, there’s not much waiting for them other than alligators and pythons,’ says Uthmeier in the clip posted on Thursday.

‘Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide.’

The migrant detention center could be built at the Miami-Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport, which is ‘virtually abandoned’, according to the attorney general.

He said state officials looked at several locations and, ‘I think this was the best one and I call it Alligator Alcatraz’.

It is 39 square miles and can accommodate up to 1,000 ‘criminals’ daily, he said.

‘Alligator Alcatraz: the one-stop shop to carry out President Trump’s mass deportation agenda,’ Uthmeier wrote.

‘Alligator Alcatraz, we’re ready to go.’
