Free produce for all who come to LA County’s fresh produce distributions in the Valley
Usa today news
Every month in San Fernando Valley, the county Department of Public Health, Department of Health Services, and the Los Angeles Food Bank together host two popular free and fresh produce distributions, one in San Fernando and one in Van Nuys.
On November 6, the distribution at the San Fernando Health Center was the first time the health department used what they described as “a client-choice model allowing clients to select items they need and prefer, rather than receiving a pre-selected bag of produce.” The new approach gives residents access to fresh fruits and vegetables while reducing waste, improving nutritional outcomes, and empowering people with a choice of products that best fits their personal, cultural, and dietary needs.
